It began with a dream to find more creative uses for invasive species while creating an opportunity to educate.

I’m fascinated with the idea of finding uses for invasive species. I took this idea and blew it out with carp to create a full on product line, called Carp Dreams. I say “Carp Dreams is an exploration of creative and engaging uses for carp. Carp are disruptive to many of the bodies of water that we hold dear. But it is possible to appreciate the gifts these fish have to offer, while acknowledging their impact on our environment.” Each product is accompanied by an insert with information about common carp and their impact on the environment, along with information about the water they are sourced from and how removal of these carp can help improve water quality.

So far I’ve made leather out of the skin, earrings out of the scales, and prints out of the body and I’m not done dreaming yet. The next project I’m looking forward to experimenting with is using the swim bladders to hopefully make paint binder.
